GM Diet Day 5 | Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian Version

If you’ve successfully completed the Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 and Day 4, then you’ll find the Day 5 pretty interesting as it satisfies your taste buds. On the fifth day of GM Diet, you’re only allowed to eat beef with tomatoes if non-vegetarian and brown rice with tomatoes if vegetarian.

The first four days will lack protein and you may feel some muscle weakness during that period. But, as beef contains lots of proteins and iron + tomatoes contain fibers and lycopene, consuming these two will help you gain all the proteins and fiber required for your body.

Those who're not habituated with eating beef can substitute it with either Chicken (500gms skinless) or eggs (6). Read the Indian version of GM diet for more details.

How to Prepare Yourself for GM Diet Day 5?

Due to lack of appetite, you’re advised to eat small servings of beef multiple times during the day. It is because the large servings will make the appetite worse. So, it is a wise idea to combine beef with tomatoes and satisfy your taste buds.

GM Diet Day 5 for Non-Vegetarians


Breakfast: Start your day with braised beef or chicken breast and tomato soup. While the meat gives your proteins, iron and fiber, soup on the other end provides energy.

Lunch: You can have a homemade hamburger made with beef/chicken. It may be either baked or fried but remember not to add too much fat as it already contains fat. At this stage, your body will produce excess uric acid and so it is advised to have lots of water (3-4 glasses) so that the urine will be flushed out naturally.

Dinner: You can have another hamburger during the dinner. However, health experts suggest that you should have beef/chicken soup and tomatoes in order to energize your body. Another advantage of having a soup is that it supplements the loss of water during the day.

Snacks: On this day, you shouldn’t eat any snacks or have fruit juices. The only beverage you’ll be having on Day 5 GM diet is water. Drink at least 14 glasses of water today so that it will detoxify your system as well as get rid of those unwanted nutrients that were contributed by meat.

Can We Replace Beef with Chicken in GM Diet?


Of course, Yes! Not many people will like the red meat although they’re non-vegetarians. So, those people can eat either Chicken or ground turkey instead of beef. But ensure that it should be skinless as skin contains a lot of fat.

If you’re a vegetarian, then you can replace the beef with Paneer (Indian cheese).

Non-Veg Recipes for GM Diet Day 5

GM Diet Day 5 Non-Veg Recipes
You can try the below recipes on the day 5. These are very easy to prepare and they don’t take too long.

1] Grilled Beef Slices (replace by Chicken if you want)

Ingredients:
  • Beef Tenderloin Strips: 1 cup
  • Lemon Zest: 1
  • Salt and Pepper: As needed
  • Coriander
Preparation:

Take the meat and season it completely with lemon zest, salt, pepper and coriander. Put it aside to rest for 10 minutes. Now, place these seasons strips on a hot grill and cook it until golden brown. That’s it! Take the slices out and serve them with sliced tomatoes.

2] Beef Burger (Chicken)

Ingredients:
  • Beef patty: 1 1/8 pound
  • Salt and Pepper
Preparation:

Take out the beef patty and apply salt and pepper on its surface. Then, place it on a hot grill and occasionally baste it with butter until it becomes tender and reddish brown in color. Once done, serve it with either tomatoes or cucumbers. You can also drink the vegetable soup when you feel hungry.

GM Diet Day 5 for Vegetarians


Make a pulao with Brown rice, sprouts and 6 tomatoes. This can be had for breakfast, lunch and dinner. During the morning and afternoon snacks time, you can have the Power soup made with tomatoes. If you don't like or have brown rice, then you can replace it with normal white rice, but include Cottage cheese (Indian paneer) while making the pulao.

  2. The only veg substitute for beef on Day 5 & 6 is Brown rice. Don't go for any other recipes. Simply, prepare a tomato rice (with brown rice) on day 5 and vegetable rice on day 6 in case you don't like beef.

    P.S: No tomato on day 6.

    1. Well I don't suggest Oats on all days but you can have it during the breakfast on days 5 and 6 if you're not interested in meat in the morning. However, I'd like to add a little modification here..try to replace milk with water while preparing oats meal.

    1. Day 7 is common for all...and day 5, 6 varies..instead of the chicken(meat), you can have brown rice..that's the only change when it comes to vegetarian version. so we didn't mention the sample plan..anyways, here is the sample menu for day 5 and 6

    1. Either have eggs or beef but don't club both since you won't be able to calculate the amount of calories for each one..

      You can have the beef in any form you like roasted, boiled but the quantity should be 500gms per day and not more than that..

    1. If you follow the diet as mentioned without cheating (munching on snacks in between), then you'll lose atleast 2 to 3 kgs by day 3.

      If not brown rice, then you can have white rice..instead of 250ml cup brown rice, eat 200ml of white rice (if possible get basmati)..

      The measuring is when cooked and not when soaked..

  70. Hi, for day 5, can i take any kind of chicken in 500gms? like wings, thighs, drumsticks? all skinned. Also, i don't really like soup so i haven't taken any at all, is there a substitute/ is it really compulsory?

    1. 500gms of chicken (only skinless)..you can get anything..wings, thighs etc...but it should be without skin..or else u will be adding more fat to ur diet.if u dont like soup, u can eat the veggies in raw form.

    I am currently in Germany and planning to start with the GM diet.. I currently weigh 94 kgs. Can you please advice at what frequency can I follow the GM diet? Also kindly request you to please provide a detailed sample Egg diet for day 5 and day 6. I do not eat Beef, hence wanting to try Egg. Kindly suggest. Planning to start the diet ASAP.

    1. Frequency: Once u finished the first week of the diet, u should give a gap of at least 4 to 5 days before following another week and so on...

      During the gap, u can follow the 1200 cal or 1500 cal diet plan to maintain ur lost weight..(find the details on our sidebars).

      Day 5: 2 Eggs + 2 Tomatoes for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner (Total 6 Eggs + 6 Tomatoes for whole day); Wonder soup whenever u r hungry.

      Day 6: Same plan...but skip tomatoes and add ur fav veggies in their place (no potato).

  78. Hi Samantha. I'm a very clean eater, but my recent weight loss has stalled. I had success with the GM diet last summer, so I am trying it again (today is day 1). I have a weigh in at my gym this Sat. (the morning of day 6). I'm hoping to lose as much as possible between days 1-5. Do you have any suggestions for maximizing weight loss? Any tips for day 5?     1. Cabbage soup is the best thing that our GM diet followers have..try to drink the soup (plain with no corn)..2 to 3 bowls is good..

  81. you had suggested that we can consume wheat bread on day 5, while on many other sites where the GM diet has been mentioned, they strictly say a NO NO to bread as the wheat is just a junk carb. So, please let me know about this.

    1. it is 100% whole wheat bread, which is healthy..however, excess amount of bread may not be good for your diet. which is why we suggested only limited quantity, that too instead of brown rice or meat. hope you get it..

    many are focussed on losing weight...but I am taking it as a good DeTox plan...

    And either or not i lose weight...I am happy that for 7 days I spent my money on some great healthy Veggie and Non-Veg combinations which without any plan can be tried by everyone anyday...without oil or fats

  86. HI, i prepared a chicken curry with zero oil and instead of a burger pattie i put the curry in my sandwich. I donot see any weight gain after doing this. Should i continue this in my next GM diet.
    Onion+Tomato+Green Chillie+Garlic+Fresh Corriander was made into a paste and i put this on low fire(without oil) and added chicken+Salt+turmeric to this and kept to cook.

  87. hello sahantha i m on day 5 and i have lost 3kgs already but i took mix veg with 2 rotis for lunch n chicken for dinner with 2 rotis... is that alright or do i need to adjust my 6th day...the chicken i consumed was less than 400gms for day and mixveg around 100 gms

    I read somewhere I could eat cittage cheese insread of meat or rice on day 5&6. Is this true an ok?
    And if I drink green tea can I use sweetener like stevia?
    And one last question: how much is 1 cup of rice (in gramms and raw)??

    i m a vegetarian nd tomorrow is my 5th day so little bit confused as on the website there is no proper schedule of 5th day is mentioned for vegetarians . so kindly have a glance on the diet plan wht i made according to my knowledge -
    B.f - tomato brown rice biryani with 1/2 cup curd ( 2 tomatoes + 1 cup brown rice + 10 gms soya chunks +onion + garlic + ginger and other spices )
    Lunch - brown bread paneer sandwich ( 1 tomato + 1 onion + green chilies + 10 - 20 gms paneer + coriander leaves stuffed nd grilled in brown bread )
    Dinner - tomato soup ( 3 tomatoes + 3- 4 slices of bottle guard + cabbage + 1/2 cup moong daal sprouts )

  97. I am planning to follow the below diet on Day 5:

    Prepare tomato rice using the ingredients Brown Rice, 6 Tomatoes, Olive Oil, Onion, Ginger, Garlic, Salt, Red chilli powder and a pinch of Turmeric.

    BF- 1cup (250ml) of Tomato rice
    Lunch – 1cup (250ml) of Tomato rice
    Dinner – 1cup (250ml) of Tomato rice
